Notes
Free food for anyone willing to walk and stoop for it, and one of the few things the forest gives without asking much. Roasted, ground into a coarse meal, or pressed in a bad year for a poor and bitter oil that nobody would use if Oevrei were affordable. Waystation households gather it as a matter of course. So do the wild ones.
The shell is mineral-hardened as native plant tissue generally is, which is why it wants a stone rather than a hand.
