Moeka — the edible wild mushrooms, taken as a class. What is gathered rather than grown.
Notes
Several kinds, and the knowing of which is which is the whole of the Skaella. Gathered in the wet months in every city’s hinterland, dried for keeping, and among the few wild foods with real flavor to offer. To go for Moeka means autumn, a basket, and dinner. Every region has its own account of which are safe and the accounts do not entirely agree. Physicians in a large city treat Moeka poisoning perhaps twice a year and speak of it wearily. A Moeka is a Livrtei. So is an Oelwy, though nobody would call an Oelwy a Moeka, since nobody puts one in a stew.
