Notes
A great bird, fourteen to sixteen feet across the wings, deep iridescent blue-black that flashes in sunlight. The wings are broader and stronger than any natural bird of the size and will carry off eighty or ninety pounds. The talons are oversized and curved and it kills by the force of the dive rather than by holding on.
It is more active in storms, hunting turbulent air while everything below is distracted by the weather.
Takes from above, in numbers, and prefers the hours before a storm when the light is poor and the noise covers its approach. Eldershore’s agricultural rings are worked under netting in the wet season for this reason. It will take a Chichei, a Wysk, a young Baechri, and occasionally a child, and every one of those has happened often enough to be planned around.
