Roedhaven — a waystation; a walled settlement on a frontier road.
Notes
Spaced three to five days apart, which means a caravan camps two to four nights in the open between them. The night behind a wall is what a Roedhaven sells and what the Muyra pays for.
Sizes vary enormously. The large ones on the Guild Road and the Brass Road are villages of a few hundred with markets, halls, smiths and stabling for a dozen teams. The small ones on thin routes are twenty people, one hall and a gate.
They are self-governing, which in practice means whoever built the wall decides. Some are run by a keeper family across generations and some by a council of the households living there, and no two work the same way.
