| Faelka | |
|---|---|
| Stage | Modern CLT |
| Pronunciation | /ˈfaɪl.ka/ |
| Part of speech | Noun |
| Etymology | from Middle Falkē, from Proto falka |
| Related words | Kaeva, Spirra, Chirska |
Faelka — the small hunting bird of open ground; takes Spirra, Chirska and anything else of that size.
Notes
Not kept and not flown. A Faelka hunts for itself and is tolerated everywhere for what it takes out of a granary yard.
Distinct from the Kaeva, which walks and is kept. A person who confuses the two in front of a falconer will hear about it.
The leading edge of each wing carries a thin spur of bone. Faelka fight each other over ground and the spur is why those fights are brief.
