Roedskrin — a road post; the message service a waystation runs, and the network they make between them.

Each Roedhaven owns its own. The station keeps the Broek loft, employs whoever runs it, charges the fees and keeps the money, and it is one of the better earners a station has.

The network is not organized by anyone. A station passes to the next station because the next station pays, and everyone in the chain takes a cut. What travels with the messages is what the road needs to know — a Vespra that has spread, a Stoendh on a stretch of the Brass Road, a bridge gone. The stations want that information for themselves and sharing it costs a bird and four lines.

A message can be read. A Roedskrin is a private business with no obligation to anybody, and a station that wants to know what it is carrying can look. Most do not, because a station known for it stops receiving traffic. The Iron Coves buys from the ones that do.

Anything that matters travels with a person.
