== Why Eldershore has no road ==
Eldershore is joined to the continent and has no overland route to anywhere. South of Clearhold's mountains lies the hottest, wettest country in the world; the growth is thick and the flora dangerous, and any route cut through it would be reclaimed within a short time without constant upkeep. The cost of that upkeep against the ease of the sea routes makes a road financially unappealing to everyone who might want one. It remains possible and remains unbuilt.

== The Chainmouth ==
Stormharbor's harbor entrance is a narrow passage between two headlands of exposed rock, called the '''Chainmouth''' for the chain that spans it. Local pilots know it intimately; outsiders find it dangerous.
