A dark long-necked bird that sits low on the water and dives to depths that seem improbable for its size. A trained Skae works from a light line: it dives at a signal and is relieved of what it caught. Stormharbor keeps them in great numbers and works them from small boats on shallow water where a net would only be in the way; the Iron Coves keep them because a Skae asks only for fish and does not need a net that could be stolen. A good Skae is worth what a small boat costs. Stormharbor occasionally sells them, at prices that surprise the buyer.
