sei-sfeir — the women’s tradition of counsel. What a young woman is told about how to be one.
Notes
The running of a household, the management of people, what is said and what is left unsaid, how to read a room and how to be read in one. Delivered by mothers, aunts, older women of the household, and by every kitchen in which more than two women are working. Generally more practical than broe-sfeir and considerably more candid, since it is delivered out of the hearing of men and does not have to be flattering.
