jeits — a junior; an apprentice, a novice, a green hand.
Notes
Not the same as Chaeldh, which is a child by age. A jeits is a junior by standing, and a man of forty who has taken up a new trade is a jeits in it. Said with affection more often than contempt, but never by the jeits of himself.
