Lexicon:Modern/Kantix

From Oathbond Wiki
Kantix
Stage Modern CLT
Pronunciation /ˈkan.tiks/
Part of speech Noun
Etymology from Middle Kantelpixē, from Proto kanteldapixls
Related words Mlaedi, Maerkwy, Saety

Kantix — a confident judgement offered by somebody with no means of making it; the habit of claiming an eye one has not earned.

Notes

The man who squints at a Bill of Chattel and announces it is forged. He cannot tell. Nobody can, because a Maerkwy forgery is the same work as the real thing.

Paired with Mlaedi in ordinary speech: one performs courtesy, the other performs competence, and both are performances. Every third man at a Coves table is Kantix about something.
