Kaellwyrm — the lure creature of the open sea. Long, sinuous, and possibly not there at all.
Notes
Long and sinuous, by every account that exists, and no two accounts agree on anything else.
Sailors report a call or a light that draws a man to the rail and then over it. Sightings are too rare and too inconsistent to assess, and the Academy has never settled whether the effect is a lure, a sound below hearing, or what fear and exhaustion do to a man who has been at sea too long.
What is not disputed is that men go over the rail in deep water for no reason they can afterwards give, and that whatever is down there does not need to have called them for the Rypra to finish it.
Whispered about in port taverns as an omen. Not marked on any chart.
