Heivra — the plucked and strummed gut-string instrument. Cheap, portable, and in every tavern in the world.

Notes

Six gut strings over a hollow body, no mechanism of any kind, and a thing a working man can afford. It is the instrument a person learns on, which means it is the instrument most often heard played badly.

The Iron Coves runs on them, being the only instrument nobody needs a guild to be taught. See Music and Animei.

The Proto form was a pre-Fall phrase naming a song rather than an instrument; the first element was already lost by the Middle period, and nobody living knows what either half once meant.
