Peif
Stage Modern CLT
Pronunciation /ˈpeɪf/
Part of speech Pronoun
Etymology from Middle pēpē, from Proto peep

Peif — they, he, she. The neutral pronoun and the ordinary one.

Notes

Gender is marked with a prefix only where it matters: broe-Peif and sei-Peif casually, da-Peif and ma-Peif formally, and most speech never marks it at all. The gendered forms were single words in proto CLT (bropeep, sispeep); by the modern language the prefix had detached and now attaches to anything, which is why the world marks gender with prefixes rather than with separate words.
