Zhorai — the sacred grove trees of Eldershore. Never cut.
Notes
Ancient, enormous, and older than the city built around them. Eldershore grew where it did in part because the groves were already standing, and the streets bend around them still. A Zhorai is not owned. It stands in no lineage’s holding and is tended by the ancestral keepers, and the felling of one is not a crime with a penalty attached so much as a thing nobody has done. Ombari is cut from the same forests; Zhorai is not, and the distinction is not botanical.
Native timber. The bark plates rather than fissures and the wood carries mineral through it, which is why it takes an edge off a tool faster than an imported wood does.
